Henry Ford Museum - Dearborn, MI

Food services at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village are complex, consisting of high profile catered events, multiple elegant weddings each weekend, staff and charter school feeding and retail cafeteria services for millions of visitors annually. The program had clearly outgrown its original spaces! The Hysen Group was commissioned to develop and evaluate renovation options based on the planned development of a new Research Center. The selected option included the addition of a second level catering kitchen to the Museum, relocation of the student/employee feeding to the Research Center and the addition of catering support areas at Lovett Hall to support its Grand Ballroom. All facilities were connected on the second level with pedestrian walkways to end the transportation of food outside. The Hysen Group provided food service equipment design, engineering and comprehensive construction services within a design-build methodology that resulted in an on-schedule opening that was 9% below the approved equipment budget.
