The Food Service Department at Notre Dame University operates two major residence hall dining facilities, six on-campus retail units and provides four-star, hotel quality catering for numerous events, reaching over 5,000 guests on certain weekends. The Hysen Group assessed all operations and facilities of the Department leading to the development of a revised organizational structure and a multi-year capital investment renovation/replacement plan. A key element of the plan was the consolidation of food warehousing, basic food production and bakery operations into a new, highly efficient Food Service Support Facility. Efficiencies generated through the reorganization process and the implementation of the Food Service Support Facility have allowed for expanded services, increased menu variety and greater concentration on customer service.
